july photo challenge

Can't believe it's August already… Hope you're all enjoying the last bits of summer!  Here's a fun little photo challenge I did to get my creative juices flowing with the fabulous ladies of fPOE… all Instagram, all iPhone snapshots.
1:: green - 2:: fruit - 3:: stripes
4:: morning - 5:: landscape - 6:: purple - 7:: floral
8:: sweet - 9:: reflection - 10:: sky - 11:: favorite things
12:: 9pm - 13:: soft - 14:: circles - 15:: dark
16:: in the kitchen - 17:: on the road - 18:: heart - 19:: black&white
20:: critters - 21:: pastel - 22:: 11am - 23:: literary
24:: shadows - 25:: doors/windows - 26:: red - 27:: what I wore
28:: symbols - 29:: movie/tv/music - 30:: vintage - 31:: selfie
Surprisingly, this last one was my favorite… selfie included (so not good at those)!!  If I could swap the vinyl for my what I wore, it would be a great "pieces of me" summary… but then again, guess the whole challenge gives insight into the life of me & a few of my favorite things!

a little sunshine...

With summer officially underway, I figured maybe it was time to post my spring pictures… haha.  It's such a pretty time of year, and with the recent Germany grey… well I needed a bit of color to remind me it's not always so blah here.

Wishing you all a day filled with sunshine… have a good one!

feelings of nostalgia...

As the story goes, it seems the more years that go by, the more I enjoy looking back at treasured memories from the past.  I've also noticed that moving to Europe seems to have had an interesting impact on me… I've become even more attached to the idea that everything has a history and can tell us a unique story.  In fact I find myself giddy just thinking about upcoming flea markets & what treasures lay undiscovered for me to scoop up & love.
For this week, I've incorporated one of my favorite photographs of my great-grandfather as a boy, saluting while dressed in uniform.  Although it appears to be a lighthearted photo, I can't help but be reminded of all those families who are separated from their loved ones while they protect our country's freedoms…

happy hump day!

Love me some vintage scrabble tiles if I do say so myself, and you'd think with all my visits to the flea market, I'd have been able to find some… but no.  So I finally ended up finding these on eBay some time ago.  I love putting fun words around my house that make me smile every time I see them!  Now this is funny… I've been waiting for the day that our images might have similarities, suppose this week is the one!  And what's even funnier is that mine would have had the "happy" had I enough Ps… which of course means I will be buying more previously loved scrabble tiles to add to my collection!!

stay tuned, because next up is "alone"

a spring in my step...

A frail little leaf clings to the fence as if it's trying to hold on to the last bits of winter… but the blooming flowers & budding trees have other plans.  The promise of spring is in the air, with a crisp breeze and the sun's warmth upon us, the cold winter is slowly being left behind…

"In springtime, love is carried on the breeze. Watch out for flying passion or kisses whizzing by your head." {Emma Racine deFleur}

"If you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment." {Georgia O'Keefe}  What a beautiful way to think of the world… I always feel that with spring comes new beginnings.  So here's to hoping you're all enjoying the fresh air and to experiencing the happiness it brings to me.

something to look forward to...

It's that time again, just the favorite part of my month!! The flea market (le sigh)...
where I go in search of those imperfect unloved items that I just can't live without.

First... grab a waffle (& slather whipped cream on thighs)
It's all right, there will be lots of walking... along with more snacking
& the occasional bier of course
(no worries that it is 7am... if grandma over there can handle it, so can I).
now, time to shop & put the rosetta stone to good use.

As I ooh & ahh,
my Hubby's voice enters my head... where are you going to put that??
I'll find a place!! I mean who doesn't need an old rusty, broken-down motor scooter?? (you honestly don't know how many ways I had to talk myself out of that one...
I did however snag some of those enamel numbers!)
ah my beloved green shutter...
see, you see peeling paint (quite possibly containing a bit of lead)
and I see future headboard.

and okay, you don't have to tell me... I sorta have a sick obsession,
and this isn't even all of them...
Oh Homburg Flea Market how I heart thee... tomorrow can't come soon enough.
So bundle up, it'll be a cold one, but I'll be there with bells on! See you there...
